About Clearvision

Clearvision is a software services company based in Southampton, and one of the UK's leading Atlassian Platinum Solution Partners. The team of around 80 people helps organisations of every size, from Procter & Gamble to RBS and Vodafone, get more out of their Atlassian, Git and open-source tooling through consultancy, training, support and licensing.

Culture matters here, and the leadership team treats it as a real measure of how the business is doing rather than a badge for the website. They enter the Best Companies awards, the UK benchmark for great places to work, and pay close attention to where they land.

The problem was timing. Awards surveys like Best Companies come around once or twice a year, and by the time the results landed, whatever had shaped them was already months in the past. If morale dipped after a reorganisation or a hard quarter, leaders often found out long after the moment to do anything about it had gone. Clearvision wanted a weekly read on how the company was feeling to sit alongside the annual survey, so they could act while it still mattered, and go into Best Companies each year already confident about the result.

The business challenge

The role of a good leadership team is to help alleviate employees of their burdens. An employee who bring challenges to work can not concentrate on their job in hand and the Clearvision leadership team needed an early indicator of when to divert energy into teams or individuals.

Our solution

Every employee gets a weekly pulse through the Slack integration, so checking in becomes a habit rather than one more thing on the to-do list

Managers see happiness broken down by team, which means a dip gets noticed early and the right questions get asked before it turns into a problem

The Chief People Officer tracks a single company-wide Happiness Score, a clean way to see whether benefits, events and changes are actually landing

With a fresh read every week, leaders can tie shifts in mood to real events inside and outside the business, and make better calls between the annual survey checkpoints

Impact

  • Ranked #1 Best Small Company to Work For, the peak of a Best Companies climb year on year
  • Employee turnover stays consistently low
  • Strong revenue growth, underpinned by an engaged and genuinely happy workforce
  • A leadership team that goes into each annual survey confident, with weekly data taking the guesswork out of the cycle

The weekly rhythm changes how Clearvision approaches the big surveys. Rather than hoping for a good result once a year, the leadership team sees the effect of every decision within days and adjusts long before it would show up in an annual score. That feedback loop compounds. The Best Companies standing climbs season after season, and the same pattern shows up everywhere else: low turnover, steady growth, and teams that stay because they can see their employer listens and acts on what it hears.

It gives you a little bit of insight you've never had before. You'd have to be massively reactive otherwise, but this gives you an early indication that maybe something's not good, and an early insight is very valuable in business.

I love the word pulse. That pulse of the business, to understand: yeah, we're on track, this is pretty good, or hang on, let's give it a bit more attention.
